Before A.J. McCarron was one of the most successful players in NCAA history, before he was the Heisman Trophy finalist dating the model, he was a little-known quarterback leading his team into a highly anticipated national championship matchup with LSU.
It was Christmas Eve 2011, and weeks before the championship game McCarron was visiting the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital. There he met a young Alabama fan named Starla Chapman, who had been diagnosed with leukemia. The two struck up a bond, and Starla gave McCarron a yellow wristband with the words "Just Trust."
McCarron wore the wristband Jan. 9, 2012, during Alabama's 21-0 victory over LSU.
McCarron and Starla stayed in touch, and life soon got a whole lot better for both of them. Starla overcame leukemia and the bleak diagnosis she was given by doctors. McCarron led Alabama to another national championship as a junior, and as a senior he was a Heisman finalist. Last weekend McCarron was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the NFL draft.
McCarron is set to marry his fiancee, Katherine Webb, on July 11, and it's only fitting that Starla will be in attendance. The couple asked the 5-year-old to be their flower girl, and she gave the perfect response:

This should make for an adorable arrangement, and if you're bummed that you can't see it, worry not. McCarron and Webb's wedding will reportedly be filmed and air as part of a reality show.
