"A small lucky package is on its way to you soon."
This fortune could not have better predicted what happened to Reddit user Shrivel last week.
He received the fortune cookie just hours after getting an odd call from a stranger.
"The voice on the other end asks for me by name and says, 'My name is ..... and you don’t know me but I know your name, birthday, height, weight and address,'" Shrivel commented on his post. The voice went on to say, “I was at Holden’s Beach in North Carolina on vacation, and I think I found your wallet."
The stranger had discovered the wallet Shrivel lost while waterskiing near his grandparents' home -- 24 years ago.
Shrivel estimates that he was 19 years old when he last saw the wallet, but after the good Samaritan shipped it to him, he found its contents remarkably well-preserveddespite spending more than two decades lost at sea. Photos of his teenage self are still clearly visible on his school I.D. cards.
"It was the one and only wallet I’ve ever lost in my entire life, and I assumed it was gone forever," he wrote.
