It’s no secret that CrossFit is intense. Completing the
highly difficult work-out routine can be a challenge for anyone.
But now imagine doing it with cerebral palsy.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta brings us the story of one woman who is
doing just that in this morning’s Human Factor.
People with the condition often have impaired motor function
and muscle coordination, making the training technique especially dangerous,
Dr. Gupta explains. But Steph Hammerman is determined.
“I'm determined to prove not only to the world but to myself
that I'm good enough to do this,” Hammerman says.
“Not only is she good enough to do it, she’s now good enough
to coach,” he reports. “Earlier this year, she became the world’s first
certified CrossFit trainer with cerebral palsy.”
