(WHDH) -- Sometimes, babies arrive at just the wrong time.
But thanks to some creative thinking and a devoted husband - this delivery had a very happy ending.
When Lauri Wood went into labor Sunday, three feet of snow covered the family's street.
There was no way out -- but a neighbor had an idea.
"I have a luggage carrier, I said, let's get it down there. Rip the lid off, whatever you gotta do,” said husband James Wood.
"I was hysterical in the bathroom, I was crying, like I'm not getting in that, this is insane, this is ridiculous. He’s like we have to go,” said Lauri Wood.
Friends and family pulled mom about 1,000 yards in a car's luggage carrier.
"Trying to hold on to the sides, and I’m flipping all over the place... and they're trying to take a corner I’m trying to go with them, and I’m contracting, it was either cry or laugh,” said Lauri Wood.
They found a plowed street, jumped in a car, and headed to the hospital where Jimmy was born one hour later.
"If you walked it today, you wouldn't be like... this is not that bad. But pull a pregnant woman on a luggage carrier... it's not as easy as it seems," said James Wood.
Neighbors said it was one of the most exciting things to ever happen in the neighborhood. It's the couple's fifth child -- but their first son.
Jimmy was named after his father, because mom said dad was the hero of the day.
