PINELLAS PARK --
Among the flashing lights, line dancing and live music, Jackie Galvin provides hope and inspiration to those in need.
Everyday Hero Galvin, owner of the Waterin' Trough Saloon in Pinellas Park, has rallied her friends and family for years into doing big acts of kindness.
There are more than 100 Jackie's Angels, ranging in age from 18 months to 80 years.
"We've helped an entire elementary school," Jackie said. "We donated approximately $30,000 worth of school materials and $2,500 in cash so they could buy anything they needed for the year," said Jackie.
"We've helped the YMCA. They needed Christmas gifts for children. All of the Angels banded together to make it happen with bicycles and countless toys."
If someone needs help, they place their request in a special box at the saloon to let someone know.
Zoe Gleason and her son recently lost everything in a house fire. She sought help through Jackie's Angels.
"Somebody sent me information saying Zoe needs help," Jackie said. "I did a little research and checking into that and, sure enough, she needed it. I contacted the Angels on Facebook. Here we go. We are needed."
In five days, the Angels replaced almost everything lost in the fire.
Zoe and her son are now Angels, too.
"I'm trying to change my little part of the world," Jackie said. "If we can't help our own people in our own backyard, what's the sense of being here?"
